Time for youth

Presented by La Fabrique Culturelle and Télé-Québec

Young, emerging musicians and artists need support and encouragement… The 24th edition of the Saguenay Jazz & Blues Festival proposes various ways to achieve that.

First, during our traditional cocktail reception, the 300 or so guests can appreciate the performances of young and talented musicians in the making, most of whom are graduating in music at Collège d’Alma. In addition, we offer scholarships to the most deserving, especially during the grand finale of the Rives-du-Saguenay school board’s Show des Rives. We give them the opportunity to perform in a professional setting on our stages, in addition to distributing hundreds of tickets so that they can attend our Festival’s big shows. We also offer them privileged access to relevant conferences promoting the benefits of playing music as part of a healthy and balanced life. This initiative will feature newly added activities this 2019. Our objective is simple: encourage our emerging musicians!

Télé-Québec is very pleased to be associated with the Saguenay Jazz & Blues Festival’s Place aux jeunes initiative. The upcoming generation of musicians is of particular interest to us, since our Fabrique culturelle is a web platform dedicated to the artistic emergence and occupation of the entire province, both geographically and culturally. The promotion of artistic life and of a sense of appreciation of the arts is essential to our society. We are therefore delighted to be part of this process with partners like the festival.
