Message from our Ambassador
Having suffered from the scarcity of jazz concerts during my youth in Jonquière, I have the impression that our Festival is working to compensate what I feel used to be lacking. No wonder I come back to it every year with the same hunger! A few years ago, after his intense performance, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane accompanied me to Inter, where our late Bob Walsh was doing a show. We chatted and drank for hours. This year, it is Wallace Roney’s turn to visit my hometown, an old fantasy of mine. Heir of Miles Davis, who bequeathed him his trumpets when he passed away, Wallace belongs to a select club of virtuoso explorers of unheard sound territories, rooted in tradition, yet looking to the future. A show not to be missed. For its 2019 edition, the ever-convivial Festival offers a rich and diverse selection: from Harry Manx and Dawn Tyler Watson, to Australian pianist and singer Sarah McKenzie. There surely will be something for everyone!
