With 12 albums to its credit, Mississippi Heat plays classic yet unique blues. Drawing heavily on Chicago blues, the influence of boogie and swing, Latin rhythms, Caribbean flavours, and funk can all be heard, always with the voice of the extraordinary African-American gospel-blues singer Carla Stinson. Pierre Lacocque’s band (a Belgian harmonicist who grew up in Chicago and studied at McGill University) captured the hearts of the American, Canadian, and European public.
